Ray Gavin is the new Longford hurling manager.

The Westmeath man fills the void left by Frank Browne, who has returned to manage the Mayo ladies footballers after an eight-year lapse. The Wexford man led Longford to an Allianz League Division 3B title in 2013 before winning the Lory Meagher Cup this year.

Gavin is a former Westmeath hurler who has managed his native St. Brigid's and Tullamore among other club teams. He was also in charge of the 2011 Lake County minor side that came within a whisker of reaching the Leinster final.
