Killoe skipper delighted

October 09, 2014

Killoe Emmet Og captain Joe McCormack believes that winning their second title in three years is more special than the first.

Following a gap of 17 years, Killoe captured the county title in 2012 and they added to that last Sunday when they defeated Mullinalaghta St Columba's in the final.

McCormack captained the side in 2012 also and he admitted to the Longford Leader that winning a second time proves that they are a force to be reckoned with.

"Two thousand and twelve was special after a 17-year gap. As I said before this is a very talented bunch of players with a mix of experience and youth and after crashing out of the championship in the quarterfinal last year it means an awful lot to these players to come back this year.

"It's a surreal occasion because coming into this final we didn't know what to expect. It's a sweet win."
