Rathcline Club Notes

September 22, 2014

Congratulations to our Intermediate team who have reached the league final after a hard fought victory over Cashel on Friday night. Both teams who were defeated in the championship semi final had something to prove in a league encounter that meant so much more in a rivalry sense. Cashel bossed the first half but Rathcline came alive in the second half holding Cashel to a solitary point, the team ethic and hard work paid dividends as they powered on in the second half. A victory made sweeter in the sense after a soul crushing defeat in the semi final of the championship, our lads had something to prove. They answered the call emphatically throughout the match and we now look forward to a league final. Well done!
We would like to wish James Rowan of Cashel a speedy recovery from a nasty injury in the match, a tough battler, we hope he makes a return for Cashel in the near future.
Well done to Mike Gill who was the lucky man whose name was pulled from the masses for the All Ireland Draw. He received 2 tickets for the final and what a final it was. The runners up were Dara McGann and Lorraine Farrell. Thanks to everyone who supported the draw, much appreciated.
There was no winner of the Rathcline lotto, the numbers drawn were 15,18,29,32,35, and 38. The weekly €25 were, Padhraig and Rose Farrell, Louis Mullooly, Chris Cullen and Berney Crossan.
The club would like to raise the issue of dogs in Clonbonny. The pitch and surrounds are used by players from 6 years of age up, by parents and all parish people. It is simply not good enough that some people are letting their dogs foul the pitch. It's quite disrespectful to other people that use the pitch for what it should be used for, and that's football. Please refrain from walking dogs around the pitch and ignoring to clean up after them.
Rathcline Ladies
The minor ladies lost in a tight match against Clonguish on a score line of 5-8 to  2-15, this championship is down to the last four now. Rathcline minors now enter the semi final next Saturday at 6, venue to be announced, they are a great squad of players, and even through this narrow loss positives can be taken. Hopefully the girls put in a huge performance in the semi final this weekend. All the best to players and management.

Rathcline Minor Club
The U 12 team contests a final at the weekend against Slashers. Time and venue to be announced so check the paper or facebook page for more details. This team is really standing out at under age level, your support for the lads would be appreciated.
Our U 14's are playing Monday and Friday, another squad that have achieved some great results in the season, but now the championship is reaching the final stages and we are sure that our U 14's will do us proud. All the best in this hectic week of matches!
The Minors are out against Colmcille in the A league on Sunday. Another squad have given supporters some memorable moments so far in the season. Another tough match against Colmcille awaits, but the lads have shown they can mix it with the best of them in this league. Best of luck.
Scor has been an integral part of the Minor club for the last couple of years. It showcases talent in the parish and it has certainly flourished in the last few seasons. For anyone that would like to take part in Scor this year, please contact Sean or Brendan, or call into the parish hall next Saturday at 8
