Dromard
U16 Summer League Final
On Tuesday evening last 2nd September Dromard U16 girls played Ballymore in the U16 Summer League final in Monaduff. It was a very high scoring game with lots of talent on display from both sides. Dromard girls were deserved winners on the day. Dromard got the scoring under way with a point from Cait Murphy in the first few seconds of the game. However Ballymore took the next couple of scores and Dromard were trailing. Dromard had plenty of possession and continued to attack but were very unfortunate on a few occasions to hit the cross bar. Then just before half time Dromard found their scoring boots with goals from Cait Murphy and Aine Smith to bring them back to a half time score line that read Dromard 2-4 Ballymore 2-6. At the start of the second half Dromard girls got off to a very strong start. Andrea Farrell opened up the scoring with a well taken point and after this there was no stopping Dromard. They showed great skill and determination and their attacks were relentless. From the goal-keeper Amy McLoughlin who made some great saves throughout the match, to the full forward line, every player played their part. The final score of the game was Dromard 7-12 to Ballymore 4-11. It was a very enjoyable game to watch and a big thank you must go to Laura Martin who trained the girls so well and believed in them. Thanks also to Peggy Kiernan, Bernie Green and Mairead Reynolds who all played their part in the success of this team. The teams and scores were as follows: Amy McLoughlin, Elaine Healy, Roisin Kiernan, Maria Murphy, Eleanor Gray 0-4, Cait Murphy3-3 , Rachel Reilly 0-1, Andrea Farrell 1-3 , Aine Smith 2-1. Subs : Alannah Mulligan 1-0, Roisin Smith, Claire Gorman, Alannah Reilly, Aoife Grimes, Sarah Murphy, Aoife Brady.
