Congratulations to our Intermediate team who had a semi final play off against Killashee on Friday evening in Killoe. What a match, possibly not notable for flowing football but for anyone that gets behind our team and has pride in the parish, it was certainly an exciting and eventful match. Both teams traded points in the first 15 minutes of the game with Rathcline just getting the better on the score sheet. James Hanley, Aaron Madden scoring well taken points with a few frees added in had settled the Rathcline men, but Killashee are a decent team and worked hard on redressing the balance and were a constant threat on the break aways down the pitch. The score that altered the game in normal time came 7 minutes before the end of the first half, when a poor kick out was intercepted by James Hankey and finished cooly by lobbing the keeper. Four points up at half time but then came Killashee, showing composure and a great work ethic, it was a game that ebbed and flowed constantly through out the second half with Killashee clawing their way back into the game, as the end neared, Rathcline went a point up, but with a minute gone in injury time, Killashee again drew the match. Extra time was played and in such a pressure enviroment scores were hard to come by. Rathcline were composed and passed the ball until within shooting range where our men went a point ahead in the scond half of extra time. Killashee had a chance of a replay with a free kick at the very end but it went wide. Rathcline in the end showed wonderful character, and it should be pointed out that Killashee proved willing opponents. It was a truly exciting game played in a great spirit. We now meet Connollys again in the semi final. Your support is vital and as under dogs we need the support of the parish. Please check the fixture list for time and venue.

 

There was no jackpot winner of the Rathcline lotto this week. The numbers drawn were 4,7,9,35,37 and 44. Next weeks jackpot is €1800. The €25 winners were Terri and Charlotte Skelly Rathcline, Kevin and Caroline Madden Rathcline Road, Tom Mulvihill Cullentra, and Frank Regan Rockwood.

 

Some lines are still available for our tickets to the hurling final in Croke Park. Its a great prize for what promises to be a great day out. Lines are €2 each and cards are in shops around the parish.

 

Rathcline Ladies

 

The Minor team were defeated by Mullinaghta in the second round of the championship on Sunday. After a great opening game against Killoe, the girls fell short against Mullinaghta. The team who is comprised of some excellent footballers can now re-focus and work hard for their next game against Clonguish. Hard luck this time but our Minor girls are still in the competition, so all focus now on the next match.

 

The Senior ladies are looking forward to a Senior B championship semi final against Colmcille next Saturday. These ladies have worked extremely hard all year and have a promising squad. It's a massive chance to reach another final. The game is in Colmcille and throw in is at 6.30. Your support for the ladies would be appreciated and we wish them and the management team the very best of luck!

 

Rathcline Minor Club

 

Another week another football filled list games for all levels at under age. Its fantastic to see our minor set up playing big games at this time of year, and fair play to everyone involved.

 

Our Minors have a massive match against Slashers in the A championship on Wednesday evening in Grattans. This promises to be another thrilling encounter and spirits will be up in the camp after a one point win against Killoe in the first round. Check fixture list and our facebook page for the throw in time for match. Best of luck lads.

 

The U 16's are playing the derby match against Cashel in Clonbonny on Thursday evening. Again no time available yet so keep an eye on updates. This game is the Shield semi final, a big match and your support for this home game would be appreciated.

 

The U 14's play Colmcille in Grattans at 7pm on Tuesday. Another big game as it's the championship semi final. This year has gone well for the U 14's, like all under age teams they have worked hard in training, so the very best of luck to you all.

 

The U 12's play Ballinalee tomorrow night, Monday, and they have one more match to full fill in the competition later on in the week. Best of luck to all involved!
