Silverware for Slashers
August 07, 2014
Longford Slashers have captured the ACFL Division Three title.
The club's reserve side claimed the silverware with a 1-8 to 0-6 victory over Colmcille in horrible wet conditions at Killoe on Saturday night.
After the final whistle, Brid McGoldrick was on hand to present the Cup to winning captain Thomas O'Rourke.
Wing forward Ruairi Clarke pounced for the decisive goal shortly after the restart, while Ciaran Farrell plundered three points for the victors and James Martin and Patrick Farrell hit a brace apiece.
Tommy Doyle clipped over half of Colmcille's tally on a night that certainly was not conducive to quality football.
