Not what the doctor ordered - Sheedy

"A relegation dogfight in Wexford isn't the ideal Round Seven league fixture".
Longford manager Jack Sheedy admits that a relegation dogfight in Wexford isn't the ideal Round Seven league fixture.

The midlanders have to beat the Model County on their own patch this weekend to avoid relegation to Division Four, so a nervy afternoon is in store on Sunday:

"I'd rather not to be going down to Wexford having to consider all the permutations and combinations, but it is good to be playing competitive football at this time of year," the former Dublin midfielder says in The Irish Independent. "It might not be championship pace, but I don't think it will be too far off it.

"We made a good fist of it in the second half against Sligo, but it was always going to be hard to come from so far back over there.

"We have a very difficult assignment this weekend. Wexford have been in the shake-up for Leinster titles over the past few years and they have some very experienced players like Graeme Molloy, Daithi Waters, Ciaran Lyng, Adrian Flynn and others. We're going to need to play for the 70 minutes.

"Everyone wants to operate at the highest level possible and we're no different. We're going to have to play very well to ensure we do that."
