Dromard Senior Club Notes

March 24, 2014
Division 1: We opened our 2014 season with a comfortable victory against an understrength Ardagh team on Saturday last at a dry but blustery Pairc NaGeal. Thanks to Derek Fahey for refereeing the game. Team: Damien Sheridan, Padraig McNerney, David Pettit, James Mimnagh, Peter Masterson, Ciaran McStay, Bernard Sheridan, Jamsie Martin, Ronan McEntire, Padraig Martin, Emmett Masterson, Frankie McGee, , Ross McNerney, Cian Mimnagh, Gary Maguire. Subs Used: P. Reynolds, E. Kiernan. Our next game is in the Reserve League next Saturday at home at 6pm v Colmcille.

Division 3: We opened our campaign with a defeat away to a very strong Longford Slashers team on Sunday last in Michael Fay Park. While we played well in the first quarter and easily matched our opponents, scores didn't come our way, and as Slashers started picking off points the game slipped away from us. However, we had a decent team on show, and with the unavailability of a few players on the day, and several additional players who can be added to this panel hopefully we will be in a much stronger position when this group returns to the field again. The next game for this panel is a home game next Sunday at 2:30pm v Mostrim.

Training: Training continues for all panels on Tuesdays and Fridays at 8pm. junior players especially urged to turn out.

Ladies: On Sunday the 16th March the ladies were defeated by Mullinalaghta in the Gold Cup on a scoreline of 4-10 to 2-06. Last weekend's game did not goahead. Next game v Ballymore in the Gold Cup on Sunday at 12 noon in Ballymore, it is very important that we have a full turn out.

Separately, we will have more details on membership for non-playing members shortly.

County Football: Hard luck to Ross and the Longford U21's who were beaten by Dublin in the Leinster semi-final last Wednesday. Prior to that they had a few great victories against strong Westmeath and Laois teams. Best wish to the Longford Seniors and the Dromard contingent in their important league match v Sligo next Sunday in Markievicz Park at 3pm.
