Carrickedmond and Ballymore square off in IFC decider

September 10, 2010
Carrickedmond and Ballymore take centre stage in Longford this weekend with the final of the Mulleady Group Intermediate Football Championship.

Carrickedmond will be attempting to atone for the disappointment of last year's decider, when they fell to a seven-point defeat to Cashel.

Eugene McCormack's men have taken victories over Killashee, Shroid and Legan to advance to the final for the second successive year.

Ballymore won the IFC six years ago but returned to the intermediate grade having failed to make a lasting impact at senior level.

Joe Brady's side also overcame Legan and Killashee, in the group stages and semi-final respectively, and have also beaten Young Grattans in the IFC this year.

Throw-in at Pearse Park takes place at 4pm, with Longford Slashers official Michael O'Brien taking the whistle.

The game follows the Pat Corrigan Transport Junior 'B' Football Championship final between Abbeylara and Mostrim, which gets under way at 2.15pm.
