"It is essential that all games played are in compliance with all other Covid-19 Protocols as per the Gaelic Games Guidelines."

Cross-border challenge matches between ladies club football teams are now allowed but "once officially approved" by the Ladies Gaelic Football Association.

GAA club teams in the 26 counties have been given permission to resume on a full-contact basis including challenge matches but this will not be allowed in the six counties until Friday week, 17 July in line with guidance from the NI Executive.

Under the GAA umbrella, clubs in the six counties have already been travelling south of the border to play neighbouring teams in challenge matches.

"Challenge games can now take place for clubs against clubs in the 26 counties once officially approved as per LGFA guidelines," the LGFA said in an email to all clubs today.

"The Injury Fund will only apply for games sanctioned officially as per above. We cannot sanction challenge games for clubs in the 6 counties against other clubs in the 6 counties until NI Executive Guidelines approve which currently is commencing from 17 July.
