O'Byrne Cup: Longford claim Carlow's scalp

December 15, 2019

Longford's Dessie Reynolds

Longford made it two wins from as many outings in the O’Byrne Cup today.

Padraic Davis’ men followed up their round 1 victory over Kildare with a 1-13 to 0-10 success over Carlow in this second round encounter at Glennon Bros Pearse Park.

Dessie Reynolds’ 51st minute goal was the highlight of a commanding performance by the winners who were full value for their 0-8 to 0-4 half-time lead.

Turlough O’Brien’s charges claimed the scalp of neighbours Wicklow in round 1 but they played second fiddle throughout today.

Reynolds’ three pointer put the issue beyond any doubt and Longford will be hoping to continue their winning ways when they travel to the Garden County for round 3 on Saturday, January 4.

Carlow will play host to the Lilywhites on the same day.
