St Francis Dromard club notes

U18 11-A-Side Cup Final: Pride of place goes to our excellent Minor team who put in a fantastic performance, especially in the second half to outscore a very strong Clonbroney (Sean Connolly’s) Team in the final on Sunday last. This is a fantastic achievement to win the final with this young team. St. Francis played very well in the first half but found scores hard to come by and went in trailing Clonbroney1.6 to 0.2. The second half bought goals, and goals win games. St Francis got the perfect start with two quick goals, but that is only half the story. Some excellent saves from Ollie Duffy, brilliant defending from Oisin O’Tool, Fionn Hourican, Ciaran Murphy, Jason Grimes and Conall Phalin. A hard working midfield of Conor McGuaran and Danial Conboy gave St.Francis the upper hand. Half-forward line of Matt Duffy and Ryan O’Connor were excellent through the game, for two very young players. Aaron Farrell and Gareth O’Hara were lively upfront and caused the opposition a lot of troubles. Final Score St. Francis 4-5, Clonbroney 1-9. The subs Joshua Gray, Jamie Conboy, James Brady, Calum McEntire, Alan Corcoran, Shane Grimes, Ian McLoughlin, played their part in getting us to the final. The team wanted to win this final for several of the panel who are injured long term, namely Karl McNerney, Stephen Donohoe and especially Cian Gray. A lot of excellent work has been done with the team during the year from Paul Hourican, Thomas O’Neill, Peter Reynolds and their backroom team of Danny O’Toole, Naomi Martin and Thomas Donohoe. A special word of thanks to Eddie Brady for sponsoring a meal for the team in The Breffni Arms, Arva. As usual, the food was excellent, again thanks to Philomena, Eamon and Staff for looking after the team. Also, It was good to see the team participating in a special mass for Past and Present members of Dromard GAA club on Sunday last, and also to Fr Pat for his best wishes.

U14 Championship Final: Hard luck to St. Francis/St. Colmcille team and mentors in the Carrigy Bus Hire Under 14 Football Championship Final against a very strong Clonguish Og team. Clonguish proved to be too strong, with some excellent footballers.

U16 Championship: Best of luck to the St.Francis/St. Colmcille U18 team to take on a Clonguish Og in the Championship Semi-Final on Tuesday night.
