Mullinalaghta's reign as Longford and Leinster club football champions is over after they were sensationally beaten by Colmcille this evening.

Barry McKeon's injury-time goal from a penalty proved decisive as Colmcille edged victory by 1-14 to 1-13 in a dramatic quarter-final at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park. Mullinalaghta were one of the biggest sports stories of 2018 when they shocked Kilmacud Crokes to become Longford's first ever Leinster senior provincial winners.

St Columba's looked on course for a semi-final place when Rian Brady's 22nd minute goal helped them to a 1-6 to 0-7 interval lead, while Colmcille had Enda Macken sent off in the 25th minute.

The champions extended their advantage to five points on the restart before Francis Mulligan received a red card. Colmcille fought back thereafter to claim a famous victory as Aidan McElligott became the second Mullinalaghta player to see red in the closing stages.
