Dromard Ladies

COUNTY MATTERS

Hard luck to our Mairead and her County teammates and management in going down to Kildare in the Leinster Intermediate Championship 1/4 Final. Losing by 3 points at halfway they eventually succumbed on a score line of Kildare 2-16 Longford 3-07.However it was a different story for the County U/14's in their All Ireland Series 1/4 final against Dublin. Leading by 8 points at halfway, they had to endure a very tense second half comeback as Dublin netted 4 times and pointed 3 times. However, Longford managed to net one more time and send over another 5 points to win by the slenderest of margins. Final score Dublin 5-09 Longford 4-13.Well done to our Louise and Kate and their teammates and management, and good luck to them in a fortnight's time when they will be facing off against Monaghan in the semi-finals.

RESULTS

Just one match played this week, and it was the start of the U14 Championship on Weds last.Killoe were the visitors and hit the front running with 3 goals and a point before Dromard managed their first point. This was followed by a goal and 3 more points to 2 more points to Killoe to leave us trailing by 5 points at halftime. The pattern of the second half was much the same, and although we missed some good goal chances towards the end,Killoe were to take their's for a final scoreline of Dromard 3-07 Killoe 6-07.Overall a good performance and we now look forward to the visit of Slashers tonight (Weds)

REGISTRATION

We would like to thank all the parents for signing up their daughters so promptly, thus enabling our registrars Niamh and Doireann to have all completed for Headquarters by May 31st.What this means going forward is that Dromard Ladies will be able to provide training and matches for all girls aged 6yrs upwards. As we are a small parish it is taken as read that girls need to play up an age group when necessary, and we thank you parents for allowing that. This means, going forward, that we can provide good fun and skill teaching for our 6 to 8 yr olds, and competitive games for U10,U12,U14,U16,Minor and Senior Panels. This is a lot of girls to cater for, so if ,as parents you want to get involved in the running of these teams or on our club committee, please contact any panel manager or club officer and we will be more than happy to welcome you aboard. We are a friendly bunch and we promise you won't regret doing it.
