Longford’s Barry McKeon believes Sunday is their chance of payback against a Kildare side who have had the upper-hand in recent meetings.

The sides meet at O’Connor Park Tullamore this weekend and despite only scraping over Wicklow in the last round, Kildare are strong favourites to advance to the semi-final.

Longford are minus the services of a number of key players, but McKeon feels that they have the players that can upset the odds and rectify a few recent results against the Lilywhites at all grades.

“We know Kildare a long time now; we have played them a few times. We definitely owe them one. It would be nice to get that win over them,” said McKeon.

“It would be the first time in a very long time for Longford to get to back to back Leinster SFC semi-finals. Kildare are strong and have been a bit of a bogey team for us at minor, under-21, junior and senior level.”
