Dan McElligott has been appointed as joint-boss of the Longford minor football team for 2019.

The Mullinalaghta clubman will share the manager's duties with Barry O'Rourke of the Longford Slashers club. The duo replace Ger Carberry.

A native of Ballymacelligott, Co. Kerry, McElligott has played a pivotal role in Mullinalaghta's success having coached the current senior players from their underage days.

His five sons - Ruairi, Donal, Aidan, Conor and Cian are all part of the 'The Laurels' squad that made history earlier this month when becoming the first Longford team to win the Leinster club SFC title.
