Senior Championship: We ask all our supporters to turn out and get behind our senior footballers in the biggest game of the year so far as they take on Clonguish in the quarter final of the championship on Sunday. Throw in at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park is at 6.30pm. Best of luck to all the players and the management team.

New York Senior Championship: Congratulations to former Dromard player Gary Maguire, Legga, on reaching the final of the New York Senior Championship with Longford. Playing in a star-studded forward line that included Longford's Brian Kavanagh, JJ Matthews and Armagh's Jamie Clarke, Gary also got his name on the on the scoresheet as Longford defeated Donegal in the semi final in Gaelic Park. Longford will now contest their first ever championship final on Sunday 9th September. Best of luck to Gary and his team mates.

All-Ireland Football Tickets: Congratulations to Tommie Mimnagh, Rosario Rabbitt and Margaret Martin who won the Dromard Club Members draw for tickets to the All-Ireland final. We hope you all had an enjoyable day.

Welcome Home: Welcome to Dromard to the Cavanagh Family from Long Island New York who visited Dromard over the last week. They are the family of Anna Mulligan RIP from Fyhora and cousins to the Duffys of Aughaga. The Mulligan family has donated to Dromard GAA over the years and follow the club's progress from NY. The family went to a Dromard U14 game this week and thoroughly enjoyed the match. It was great to have them visit our Parish and we hope they enjoyed the visit. Members of the Mulligan and Duffy families are pictured below during their visit to Dromard.

 

St Francis Dromard Minor Club Notes

U16 Championship: Our U16 Team lost to a very strong Killoe Óg team last week, in the final group game. This was a good game of football with Killoe Óg taking an early lead, but St. Francis worked hard to bring the game back to a point with a few minutes to go. Killoe got a few late on goals to secure their win. St Francis Team: Ruairi O'Toole, Colin Palin, Ollie Duffy, Stephen Donohue, Ryan Darcy, Oisin O'Toole, Matt Duffy, Ryan O'Connor, Joshua Gray, Fionn Hourican, Aaron Darcy, Aaron Farell, Danial Conboy, with Callum McEntire, Jamie Conboy making good impacts from the bench.  Now we have a playoff game with Clongluish Óg to get into the Semi-Final.

County U16: Gerry Reilly U16 Cup plate Final takes place next Saturday night in Oldcastle GAA Club. Best of luck to Aaron Farrell, Fionn Hourican and the Longford U16 Team and management. All Support welcome.

U8 Blitz: The last u8 blitz of the year took place in Emmet Park Killoe on Wednesday evening last. Two strong teams took to the field and played teams from Slashers, Killoe and Gratten Óg. There was some excellent footballing skills on show from our two teams which is the result of attending training every Friday and shows that their efforts are paying off. Training will continue Friday evenings at 7pm and, as some players will be moving up to u10, we need to get everyone to make an extra effort to attend training from now on. The teams (pictured below) lined out as follows: Team 1, Oran Taaffe, Oran Carragher, Michaela Farrell, Andy Duffy, Joe Donohoe, Tiernan O'Reilly, James Tuite. Team 2: Neal O'Reilly, Cian Darcy, Conor Horan, Luke Donohoe, Elenor O'Reilly, Tommy Duffy, Donagh Martin, Conor McCabe.

Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Minor Championship: After the end of Dromard's participation in the Senior Championship last week, it is now the time for our Minor girls to take centre stage and we appeal to everyone to come out and support them. Although few in number they were key to bolstering the Senior Panel this season. Now it appears their club loyalty has reaped benefits as our entire U16 panel and a good many of our older U14 panel have rallied to the cause to enable them to compete in their own Championship, and we thank our younger ones for doing that. Training is going ahead under the watchful eye of Senior Manager David Petitt every Tuesday evening at 7pm, and the opening match at home to Ballymore is scheduled for Sun 23 September. We wish the girls Good Luck in their efforts to bring more silverware back to Dromard.

 

 

Underage Training: Still taking place on Saturday mornings with great numbers of girls turning out, especially our new members and very youngest who are showing great keenness. Our thanks go to all the Senior girls and our Mammys who take their turn in providing one hour of fun and skills development to ensure Dromard are competitive at every level going forward. There is at last good news regarding the tops for these underage girls. After a few setbacks in sourcing them from the suppliers they have at last arrived and Imelda will soon be organising a presentation day. We thank all the girls for their patience waiting for them but we are sure you will all look very smart and the wait will have been worthwhile.

 

 

Clothes collection: Don't forget to be going through your presses to sort any unwanted clothes etc. for this year's clothes collection on Thurs 20 September. Clothes can be left into Moyne Stores or the Clubhouse, but in the case of the Clubhouse could we ask you to delay leaving them until 18/19th as the Fitness classes will be up and running for the autumn session and space will be at a premium. An excellent way to boost our dwindling finances after a successful season on and off the pitch, so as to allow us to equip the club with the gear and equipment needed for a well run club. As always, your continued support is invaluable to us and much appreciated.
