Laois ladies hit a magnificent seven on their way to a stylish win over Longford in Group 1 of the TG4 ladies intermediate championship at Clane.

This game was wrapped up long before half time with Laois 4-9 to 0-4 ahead at that stage, while their dominance continued after the break.

Ciara Langton top scored with 2-1 along with Emma Lawlor who bagged 1-4, while Amy Potts, Erone Fitzpatrick, Sarah Walsh and Meaghan Dunne also hit the net for the Leinster champions in a 7-16 into 1-9 win.

There was some consolation for Longford as Michelle Dunne hit the net, although they now face a relegation play-off following on from last week's defeat to Sligo, who meet Laois in the top of the table battle next weekend.

Later on Sunday afternoon at the same venue, an early Sarah Miley goal had gotten Wicklow off to a great start for this Group 2 tussle, but Offaly were soon back in the clash thanks to a brace of goals from Sarah Kehoe.

Wicklow still managed to lead by 1-8 to 2-2 at the break, but they surged ahead when Maedhbh Deeney converted a penalty for her side, while Offaly's Katie Kehoe was yellow carded.

It was then left to substitute Amy Murphy to bag goal number three for Wicklow, which clinched the win for her side on a 3-15 to 2-11 scoreline.

Tyrone inflicted a heavy defeat on Wicklow last time out and they face Offaly in the final round next weekend, while Wicklow will have to sit tight and see if this win will be enough.

Meanwhile, goals in either half from Aisling Murphy and Ellen O'Brien gave Wexford a 2-19 to 0-3 victory over Down in Group 3 - the only group with four teams.

Wexford had plenty to spare over Kildare in last week's pool opener, and this win has wrapped up a spot in the last eight for the Slaneysiders, who face Clare in the last round next weekend.

And that will be a meeting of the two unbeaten teams in the group after Clare registered a 1-13 to 0-12 win against Kildare at Kinnegad.

Laurie Ryan's goal just before the break gave Clare a 1-6 to 0-6 advantage at that point, but the Banner girls still needed a late kick with five of the last six scores to take the win.

In Group 4, a ninth minute goal from Joanne Cregg set Roscommon on the road to an impressive 2-9 to 0-9 victory over Meath in Kinnegad.

Meath had scored a stunning 11-24 in their win over Fermanagh in round one, but the Connacht champions bossed this clash and made sure of the win when Alice Kelly bagged their second goal six minutes into the second period.
