Dromard Ladies Club Notes

County Matters: Hard Luck to our Senior Ladies in their first group match last Sunday v Sligo played in Strokestown. Down by 6 points at halftime they would eventually lose by 10 points. The next group match throws in at13.30 in Clane on Sunday 22nd July when Laois provide the opposition. This is a must win game for the Ladies if they wish to progress in this years All Ireland Intermediate Championship, so best of luck to them, especially the Dromard girls on the panel.

Summer Leagues: These are still causing problems this year as clubs, including ourselves, are finding it hard to field teams with many girls on family holidays and various Summer Schools. The only group to play this week were our U/16s who travelled to Carrickedmond with a much weakened side, only to suffer a heavy defeat. At least you travelled girls, so well done for that and let's hope when girls are returning from holidays we can begin to get the results we know we are capable of. With that in mind we entertain Grattans tonight (Weds) throw in at 7pm on the top pitch as there is a Boys U/12 Blitz occupying the main pitch.

Senior Panel: The only group getting regular football at the moment are our Senior Ladies. After losing their first 2 Championship matches, they now look towards the third round game at the end of the month against the newly amalgamated Ballymahon/Forgney/Killashee. Best of luck to the panel and management.

Birthdays: After last week's glut of celebrations, this week has just three. On Monday next one of our 3 sets of twins in the club, Laura and Michelle McManus whose age is a well-kept secret, but who both tog out for our Senior Panel. Then on Wednesday next Andrea Farrell who will be 18, and is returning to the fold after taking a season out to address the dreaded leaving cert. Happy Birthday Ladies.
