Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Fixtures and Results: Our U/14 match at home to Longford Slashers was pulled this week as they had a clash with Community Games and this week is our bye week, so unless the Slashers match is rescheduled for this week we will have no game until Thurs 14th June when we are Away to Carrickedmond. So this gives us room to talk about last week's U/10 experiment. Firstly a huge thank you to Rathcline's girls and their parents for travelling up to Dromard in big numbers. The warm sunny evening determined that we split the games into three 15 minute periods with a 5 minute water break in between. Because Rathcline brought plenty of girls, we were able to split the teams into 7/8 yr olds and 9/10yr olds and play two matches simultaneously on small pitches. This was a first taste of Ladies Football against real opposition for lots of these young ladies, and hopefully they will all meet up again during the summer as the U/10 Blitzes get underway. For some of the older U 10s they will also get a chance to play a part in the U/12 Summer League which starts on Monday June 11th when we entertain Grattans in Pairc na nGael. We have not forgotten about our Senior Panel, and although there have not been any competitive fixtures for this group since their triumph in the Div 2 Final, ensuring Div 1 Football next season, David and Sean assure us that there has been plenty of training and challenges as they prepare the team for their very first season in the Senior Championship. The girls are under no illusion as to the size of the task, but are mad keen to at last test themselves against the best in Longford. The Championship is due to get underway the last weekend in June, depending on the Longford's progression in Leinster.

Birthday Greetings: Just the one this week, so Happy Birthday to Kate O'Connor who will be 13 on June 13. Hope you have a brilliant day.
