The Club offers its sympathy to the Duffy and Kenny families on the death of Denis (Dinny) Duffy, Ballyduffy. Dromard Ladies Club Notes

Fixtures and Results: U/12s finished their Championship for this year, unfortunately with another defeat to Rathcline, but can still look forward to their Summer League starting on June 11th. It is easy togging out when you are a winning side, but the worth of a team is to turn up so as not to let your friends down when you are losing. So well done girls for all your efforts so far. There was a big improvement in your play during the season and we are sure that your first win will not be far away. Keep up the good work.

On Tuesday our U/16s were in Colmcille to contest the B Championship Final against Ballymore. Thanks to Colmcille for having the pitch in tip top condition and for looking after us all. A special mention must go to the Colmcille girls themselves for supporting us on the night.  Many of these girls would be great friends at Moyne and it was lovely to see that friendship shine through, even though the rivalry they would have when playing each other. As for the game, you could not have asked for a better match.  In a fiercely contested final, Ballymore were straight out of the blocks, scoring 1-01 before Dromard got a hand on the ball, but true to form our girls gradually hauled themselves back into the match establishing a

2-4 to 1-3 lead at halftime. Determined not to get caught cold at the start of the second half, they scored 2-01 without reply before Ballymore came back to narrow the gap to 7 points. Dromard kept on the front foot tipping points over at regular intervals before two Ballymore goals kept the contest tight until the final whistle. Final score Dromard 5-11 Ballymore 4-7. Agreat game for the spectator between two evenly matched sides. With such a young Dromard side at this level, it was important that every player owned the shirt and left it all on the pitch no matter the result, and this they did all over the park. From goalie to corner forward every body played their hearts out and were deserving of the cup and the pizza and chips afterwards at their homecoming. Thanks also to our supporters, who once again turned out in huge numbers to cheer them home. Team: Louise Tierney, Nicole Conboy, Orfhlaith Mulligan, Karen McLoughlin, Brianna Murphy, Shauna Hagan (0-4), Avril Cosgrove, Orla McGauren (1-3), Alyssa McErlean (2-3), Aisling Farrell, Cathy Conefrey (0-1), Sarah Murphy (2-0), Tamara Cosgrove, Leah Duffy, Siobhan Murphy, Ciara Maguire.

On Thursday our U/14s played their third Championship match at home to Mullinalaghta. Maybe after Tuesdays gallant efforts, when most of the U/14 panel were involved it was to be expected that they might not be quite at it for this game. And so it proved as our visitors racked up 3 good points from play to take the lead. Indeed it was not until the 22nd minute before Dromard registered a score. After a few harsh words among themselves at half time things were put right in the second half and we ran out 5-10 t0 1-4 victors.

Underage Training: Recommences this Saturday after last weekend's Holy Communion celebrations. Look forward to seeing you all on the Astroturf at 1030am sharp for an hours fun and hard work.

Birthdays: Just one this week as Abi Duffy turns 17 on Tuesday next. Have a lovely day Abi.
