Defending Longford senior football champions St Columba's Mullinalaghta suffered their first loss in the county since 2016 last weekend.

The Longford kingpins came undone against one of their fiercest rivals in recent years as Longford Slashers recorded a win in this league clash.

May 2016 was the last time Mullinalaghta tasted defeat in the county and it was a sweet victory for new Slashers manager Enon Gavin.

The former Roscommon All-Star saw an injury time goal from Ciaran Farrell help them to a 2-10 to 0-14 win over St Columba's.

Of course, this result will count for very little when the championship starts, but Slashers will take some confidence from it.
