It was with great sadness we learned last week of the death of Billy Morgan, one of the most iconic figures in the history of Killoe Young Emmets GAA. Its 58 years since he lifted the Connolly Cup in Pearse Park when Killoe claimed the senior championship title for the first time in over 40 years. The team were presented with the brand new cup on the day and Billy became the first winning captain to hold it aloft. Billy later went on to win a senior championship in Monaghan with Ballybay where he was working. Named on the team of the Millennium, Billy's footballing skills were known far and wide. The legendary status of this quiet, unassuming man will live on.

Our senior team had a fine win over Granard in their first league outing on Saturday evening last in Granard. Final score 1-13 to 1-7. Well done lads. This Saturday evening e are at ome to Dromard. Our juniors had a game against Abbeylara on Monday. Please see fixtures section for the result.

 

 

Our lotto draw for a jackpot of €11,900 took place in The Olde Forge on Sunday night last and the numbers drawn were 5, 6, 14 and 36. There was no jackpot winner. €20 winners were Sean and Melissa Whelan, Marion Kiernan, Cartron, Bracken Family, Esker, Michelle Tully, Dernacross and Mattie and Geraldine Clarke Ohill. This weeks sellers prize went to Margaret McCormack. Thanks again to all who support our lotto. Next week sees the jackpot rise to €12,000 with the draw in Begleys n Sunday night.
