Dromard club notes

February 19, 2018

Clash of the Townlands: Our annual table quiz took place on Friday night last and was a great success. The event was well attended and a tremendous night's entertainment was enjoyed by all. The winning table with an impressive score of 91/100 was Moyne. Dromard Club Treasurer Dermot Reilly presented the winning team with their trophies. Thanks to all who attended our first fundraiser of 2018. A special word of thanks to the main organisers Peter Mimnagh and PJ Berry, to quizmaster Gerry Donohoe and all who helped out on the night. Thanks also to all those who donated prizes for the raffle and to Eamonn and Philomena Gray for the use of their premises.

Monthly Draw Winners: This month's draw took place at our Clash of the Townland's quiz on Saturday night in Gray's. Congratulations to this month's lucky winners: €500 to Declan Mimnagh, Moyne and €100 each to Tom Seery, Arva; Caoimhe Mimnagh, Moyne; Colm Hourican, New York and Teresa and Seamus Finnan, Ardagh. Thanks to all our members for your continued support.

National League: Best of luck to the Longford senior footballers and management in round 4 of the league versus Wexford on Sunday next (25th February) in Glennon Brothers Pearse Park. Good luck to Dromard's Diarmuid Masterson and Ronan McEntire and all the players and backroom team.

Fitness Classes: Longford Fitness classes return at Páirc na nGael with a range of courses available including spin, bootcamp, core strength and conditioning etc. Classes cost €20 per week for unlimited classes or pay as you go. For the full list of classes and further information please contact 085 7607248.

Steward Training Course: The County Board has announced that a new training course for stewards will be organised in the next couple of weeks. A similar course was ran in February 2014 and anyone who completed that course is now due for renewal. We also require more new stewards to lighten the load on the present people who give great service every week. There will shortly be a requirement on Clubs from both an insurance and health and safety point of view to have a number of qualified stewards available to them for the running of any Club functions or games. As a result, it is important that volunteers from Dromard attend this course. If you are available, please contact any member of the Dromard Club Executive or the County Board directly as soon as possible. Email: [email protected].
