Junior B Football
p squared is right, we have 2 kildimo players in our team, the rest are kilcornan parish, we got 2 a county final 2 years ago and lost 7 or 8 players to injury and travelling and old age! And our neighbours pallaskenry and ballysteen have a few of our players so i dont see how any1 would begrudge us I think we deserve to win the county and are well equipped to do it! its not right that 2 junior a teams were allowed regrade but we fear no1. i think however it will be granagh ballingarry to win out from the other side of the group!! we will then beat them in the west and county finals.

Relegation semi's
I agree with the idea of relegating two senior teams a year but promoting the two teams who reach the intermediate final is ridiculous.

Maybe promoting an extra divisional team but there is no way two clubs should be able to gain promotion. Its not soccer lads...theres no reward for second place!

Junior B Football
ncw play ballingarry 2nite, the winner of that will go a long way towards winning the county, the biggest threat to them in the west is kilcornan(who have 2 kildimo players in their team b special). it would be nice to see someones first team win this year for a change, someone like kilcornan or camogue rovers for example. it is a bit unfair that 2 teams are allowed voluntarilly regrade. ballingarry didnt have a bad year at junior a last year and its not 2 long ago that feenagh kilmeedy were intermediate. the county board dont care what happens with club football in limerick, never mind junior b

Underage county teams.
What the u16 selectors did was disrespectful to the 2nd string team because for any of those to make an impression they need to be on a reasonably strong team. This is a DEVELOPMENT squad.
And a lot the parents and families of the 1st and 2nd 15 WERE mortified.

Both intermediate finalists would be promoted hurley carrier. There's still the incentive of winning a county title so i don't think the intermediate final would be diminished in any way. Both Brureeand the bouncers should be kicked out of senior hurling along with three or four other clubs. The chances of that happening are nil so lets relegate two each year and see if that changes attitudes.

Senior Championship Predictions
would be a lot better to keep your opinions to hurling and not on the character of the kilmallock players who you claim like boasting about their medals

Relegation semi's
Intermediate teams are fairly poor apart from Dromin/Athlacca and Ballybrown. The last few winners have all stayed up when promoted - South Liberties, Bruff, Claughaun, Granagh/Balligarry, Knockainey with the exception of Dromin/Athlacca who were up and down a couple of times. Those teams were in intermediate semi finals and finals for a few years before going up. All the teams have adjusted to senior level, survived and improved as the years went on.
The last few that were relegated - Tour, Killeedy, Cappamore, Monaleen, Mungret, Ballybrown (exception) have all struggled in intermediate. They were stuggling for a few years before going from senior to intermediate.
The last couple of years has seen Garryspillane and Bruree struggle with both of them involved in relegation playoffs. Garryspillane look like they are heading for the drop.

Not sure about letting two go down as who would you promote - both finalists in intermediate - where is the incentive to win the intermediate title then?

East and City struggled to field teams in inter-div championship with East pulling out.

Might be time to reduce senior teams to 12 with two groups of six - similar to football setup??

captainmac if you look at previous posts i never mentiond anythng bout parents.i still say that what selectors did was wrong but this is only my opinion and people will always differ in everything,

i yhink your wrong bout the intermediare teams cuming up not been good enuf. look at the last two years for instance. this year liberties have been comfortable enough at senior level and they r my bet for the county cup. there a gud solid team that will b senior for a few years. there not god enough to qualify for the quarters just yet but wit experience who knows wot mite happen in a few years. then there wos bruff who imo have a brighter future than liberties. challenging for county honours at underage level at a couple of grades they seem to have a good structure in place and if they can keep hose players then they could in a few years b top 8 r even 4 material. on the other hand look at the two teams that replaced them at intermediate. both in the reegation semis this year and tour now in the final.

New Football Manager
HOW ABOUT JOHN RYAN,WAS WITH NA PIARSIGH FOR A WHILE ,A GOOD FOOTBALL MAN

CAPTAINMAC , 01/09/2010 at 16:13

New Football Manager
Martin Kiely in the Leader last week mentioned Ned English, Liam Kearns or Johnny Cummins. I've said it elsewhere on Hogan Stand: I just don't think Dwyer is the man for the job. This team needs someone innovative and ambitious who can build on the good work of the previous two management teams over a 2-3 year period. There are no "quick-fix" solutions!

HECTORK,FROM WHAT I AM TOLD IT WAS ALOT DIFFERENT TO YOUR COMMENT.LIMERICK PLAYED TIPP AND LOST ,PLAYED CLARE AND WONAND THEN CORK AND LOST,ALL THIS WITHOUT A BREAK.AT THIS STAGE LIMERICK WERE OUT AND KNEW THEIR LAST GAME AGAINST WATERFORD WAS MEANINGLESS SO THEY RESTED THE TIRED AND INJURED PLAYERS.IT WAS A RISK WORTH TAKING AS FAR AS THEY WERE CONCERNED.WE MIGHT NOT LIKE WHAT THEY DID BUT THEY WON AND FROM WHAT I AM TOLD NOT I PARENT HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT. PERSONALLY I DONT HAVE A PROBLEM WITH WHAT THEY DID AND NOT TO CONCERNED ABOUT WHAT WATERFORD THINK.

Senior & intermediate football championship fixtures
You are spot on ballygowan saints picked up a number of injuries to key players over the last few weeks and again on saturday against monaleen which would have seriously depleated them for any relegation game so it was vital they got the win saturday. They had a poor start to the championship with 4 or 5 newcomers to the team that won the intermediate and it took them awhile to settle on their best line up. Saw them against Drom and Kierans and were awesome at times and this is definitely not a team that lacks ambition as they attacked Drom in waves only to be caught out near the end on the counter attack. The only thing which might affect this group is that a number of members of the squad are talented at different sports and can result in picking up injuries but the future is definitely bright for St Patricks and if you want to look for lack of ambition look no further than saints near neighbours who were happy to steal one win in the championship and hope that was enough to retain their senior status for another year and bore people to death with their blanket defence for the rest of the season..

Senior & intermediate football championship fixtures
In response to prof Honeydew i would say St pats have major ambition to do well but it was really important to win on saturday no matter how it happened so this could be achieved. Not winning by five points or more against monaleen is not where saints lost out on a qf it was in the first two games which they lost by a solitary point when lookin back a draw in any of these would have put them through, the second of these games was tough to take being five points up and dominating the game this was a bitter pill to swallow ,and knowing then to avoid relegation they would have had to beat two of three teams who were experienced at this level would be a tough ask .The last month especially they have learned a huge amount running fr caseys (county league final) and drom really close and beatin monaleen and st kierans so next year u will see a different team which will be aiming to take the championship by storm. I think it is very hard for a team to realistically win a senior championship in the first year after two decades in different grades.keep up the good coverage of football prof just had to clear up the ambition side of things!!

Anyone any thoughts or knowledge as to who our new football Manager will be - Doesn't seem to be any names about other than earlier rumour of Mick Dwyer

forwardswanted, i'd say 3 or 4 of the senior teams would struggle at intermediate just as tournafulla have done.

Underage county teams.
Limerick 16s unlucky to make to make the last four of the cup due to scoring differance between themselves and tipperary over Antroim. Limerick and Tipp finished 2-6 a piece. Tipperary awarded a dubious penalty which should have been a free out for barging. Barry O Connell Andrew Hannigan and Dave Carroll in the backs forced Tipp away from there stylish free flowing hurling which was evident in there Games against Antroim Offally in Galway where they racked up huge scores. Limerick backs worked well as a unit along with Dan Goggin at Midfield Brian Griffin at Centre Forward and Jack Kelleher in the corner who finished with a total of around 2-23 between the four games. However Kevin O Brien and Jason Mullins failed to reproduce the form they showed in warm up matches. It was clear nerves got the better of these players who have huge futures. With Dan Goggin Barry O Connel Dermot Dee Jack kelleher (Even though a bit light) Jason Mullins Eoin O Farrell and Brian Griffin all in contention for next years Minor panel the future looks bright for Limerick Hurling.
