Galway under-21 manager Tony Ward has stressed that he has prepared a team to win against favourites Limerick in Saturday's All-Ireland semi-final.

The Shannonsiders are 1/6 to reach this year's final on September 9th as they impressed during a tough Munster campaign which saw them earn victories over Tipperary, Clare and Cork.

Galway have been untested so far, but they have the likes of senior stars Conor Whelan, Thomas Monaghan, Jack Grealish and Sean Loftus in their ranks.

The Tribesmen are used to coming into a semi-final in this situation and Ward is adamant that they will be going all out to win the game at Semple Stadium.

"We have done a good bit of work. They (Limerick) have three hard games under their belt - they are supposed to be the team of the under-21 championship this year - where we have had challenges against Kilkenny and Cork. They were good challenges, but they are still only that - challenges," Ward told the Connacht Tribune.

"Look, we are going there with the intention of winning, but we are under no illusions. We are going to be up against it."
