Mike O'Connell Menswear Catherine Street City Intermediate Hurling Championship.

Ballybrown and Kildimo-Pallaskenry server up an entertaining hours hurling on St Patricks morning last in Kildimo. This was a quarter final match in the Mike O'Connell Menswear Sponsored City Intermediate Hurling Championship. Ballybrown had the better of the early exchanges and went into 0-7 to 0-4 lead at the break. The second period saw Kildimo-Pallaskenry exert a lot of pressure and this resulted in a series of unnecessary frees being conceded by Ballybrown. The home side took the lead 0-8 to 0-10 midway through the half and things were not looking good for Ballybrown. Three points in a row from Andrew Cliffe put Ballybrown in front once again but the home side cheered on by a large following were not for giving in and the stormed back to lead by two points with time almost up.  Cillian Cliffe was the Ballybrown saviour as he found the net from a goalmouth scramble to put his side a point in front. The final score saw Andrew Cliffe score his ninth point of the game from a free. Ballybrown's defence were under the cosh for most of this game but held out and were the launch pad for numerous attacks. The concession of a large quantity of frees by Ballybrown of which 12 were converted will have to be rectified. Stephen McKeogh contributed 8 of his sides scores from frees. The final score was Ballybrown 1-13 Kildimo-Pallaskenry 0-14.

 

City East U-21 Hurling Championship Rd 5.

Southside Gaels 6-12 Kildimo-Pallaskenry 1-2.

The concession of goals by Kildimo-Pallaskenry paved the way for their downfall here. The final scoreline might suggest that there was a huge gulf between the sides but this was not the case. Kildimo-Pallaskenry have yet to have the services of County Senior Panellist Kyle Hayes and Darren O'Connell and these two would in my opinion have made them a different outfit. The result sees Southside Gaels and Mungret St Paul's top the table with three wins apiece and they meet on Sunday next in the final, venue and time to be agreed later this week.
