Racing duo raise €500k through hurling

Horse trainer Jim Bolger and jockey Davy Russell's charity hurling matches have raised more than €500,000 for charity.

The matches are organised annually to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society and have so far yielded €542,000 in just five years.

Some of the biggest names in Irish sport are invited to take part in the games, which have featured sides managed by Brian Cody, Davy Fitzgerald, Liam Griffin and Cyril Farrell in the past two years.

The 2016 game raised €138,000 and the 2017 edition is scheduled for Newbridge on August 15th next.
