JUVENILE CLUB NEWS

Results

U-13 Hurling. Congratulations to the boys and their mentors who won the Division 1 Hurling title with a good win over Mungret on Saturday.

After a very competitive two months of hurling in the Division 1 hurling league our U13 team won the County Final which was hosted in Claughaun GAA last Saturday. In great conditions our young men battled their hearts out against a strong Mungret team. The scoring was nip and tuck for most of the game until Monaleen gained a margin towards the end to earn a historic win. Result: Monaleen 1-8 Mungret 0-6.  Thanks to Mungret for a sporting game and to Claughaun GAA for hosting us on a fine pitch. Playing for Monaleen were Shane Twomey, Oisin Toland, Lochlann McHale, Bryan Canny, Ben Hayes, Joseph Fitzgerald, Dylan Crowe, Eoin Dignam, Ronan Lyons, Max Ivory, Evan O'Connell, Jack Ryan, Declan Aylward, Eric Stritch, Noel Clancy, Robert O'Sullivan, John Foley, Darragh Clifford and Tony Power.

U12 Football: Our u12 footballers play host to our long-time friends Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin) this coming Saturday 29th October at 5pm in UL. Since this Monaleen group were U-8's they have played this Kilmacud Crokes team in both hurling and football every year and the games have always been very close and competitive. We look forward to a similarly good game against a very strong Kilmacud squad this weekend.

CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

Results and Fixtures

It was another impressive performance from our U13s who qualified for the county final with a 4-5 to 1-1 win over Doon on Saturday. Doon started well and led 1-1 to 0-0 after 10 minutes but after a great save from Aimee O Brien the Monaleen girls took over the game. Mia O Halloran and Clodagh Power, the wing backs, and Charley Drury in midfield, stopped Doon coming forward while Aoife Nelligan's accurate free taking pulled Monaleen back into the game. A goal either side of half time from Aoife Doyle sealed the result. Newcastle West won the other semi so will be our opponents next weekend.

Panel: Mia O Halloran; Aoife Doyle (2-0); Aoife Nelligan (1-3); Ella Hession (1-2); Aoife Sheehan; Charley Drury; Juliette Pinson; Ella McCarthy; Clodagh Power; Grace Clohessy; Emily O Brien; Amy Kavanagh; Niamh Moloney; Amy Burke; Emily O Halloran; Kerrie Carey; Aisling O Driscoll; Aimee O Brien.
