Junior Hurling:

For the third time of asking we got over Caherline in the County Junior A hurling championship semi final and we are now in a County Junior A hurling final for the first time since 1934. All roads led to Kilmallock last Saturday afternoon for this semi final replay our junior hurlers got off to a great start hitting Caherline in all parts of the field, midway into to open half we started to take control of the game and took the lead 0-06 to 0-05 and we never looked back after that and when Michael Geary hit the Caherline net in the 22nd minute things looked very good for our side we were six points up at the half time break 1-09 to 0-06. In the second half and playing against the wind we got the opening point and led by seven points until ten minutes into the second half Caherline got their opening goal to leave the score at 1-13 to 1-07 we hit another point before Caherline hit us with their second goal with eleven minutes to go, now the score was 1-14 to 2-07. Coming to the closing stages of the semi final we let Caherline in for a third goal and a couple of points to level the game 1-16 to 3-10 with two minutes remaining. Both sides each hit over a point to force the semi final into extra time with the team tied at 1-17 to 3-11. Our management team did a great job in getting the team back on track and we came out in the first half of extra time and exchanged points with Caherline both sides were again level but in the second half of extra time all the hard work that was done at the training ground came into play and we again took control of the game and hit Caherline for four points to their one point to run out winners by three points 1-23 to 3-14. Celebrations rang out on the sideline and all over the grounds even though there was no silverware but the relief of victory after three tough games was evident by our players and supporters.
