September 26, 2016

Hon the parish. It gives me great pleasure to inform you  that all is well in Cappamore this historic weekend. The 'Fair of Cappamore' got a airing or two over the weekend.  Both sets of players, management teams and supporters did themselves proud. The lift they gave the older generations will be fondly remembered for many a year to come.

Camogie Final.  County intermediate camogie champions.Cappamore1-16 Crecora 3-09.  Well done to the Cappamore girls on their great win today and promotion to the senior ranks.  Despite the heavy rain at the start the Cappamore tempo was high with all 15 players showing great commitment and desire to win.   Team captain Muireann Creamer leading by example scoring 3 long range points with Roisin O Malley,Claire Keating,Molly Hammersley and Lisa Leonard also scoring.  To be fair the Crecora girls were as committed as our girls and scored 2 goals to keep them in the game.  The second half wind assisted we were slow to start and found ourselves down by 4 points.  The girls grafted hard and with Lizzy O Dwyer and Elaine Berkery starting to score ,Cappamore got back into the game.  After some hard work out the field the sliotar found its way to Muireann who finished to the net and from here on Cappamore were always going to win.  To be fair Crecora kept trying and with the last puck of the game got a goal to leave the smallest of margins between the teams.  Needless to say the Cappamore camp were delighted to hear the final whistle and the girls, like the hurlers achieved promotion to the senior ranks.  .We join Ahane as the only other club in the county to have a senior Camogie and senior Hurling Team.Well done all.  Great to see such large support, weary some may have being, however this historic weekend will long live in the memory.  Team Cathy Maher Patrice Clarke Aislinn O Malley Siobhan Berkery Lisa English Claire Keating 0-01Aimee O Brien Marie Berkery Elaine Berkery0-05 Lizzy O Dwyer0-02 Muireann Creamer 1-04 Lisa Leonard 0-01 Roisin O Malley 0-02 Geraldine Ryan Molly Hammersley0-01 Subs Fiona Holmes for Ryan Aisling Heffernan Brid Berkery Orla Lonergan Aoife Campbell Michelle Berkery Aoife o Malley Emily Troy Emily Sheehy Katie Hayes .Manager Dan McKenna Coach Daniel O Donnell.First aid Elaine O Brien
