DROMCOLLOGHER/ BROADFORD EDGE OUT CHAMPIONS IN A VERY CLOSE ENCOUTER!!!

County Senior Football Championship Quarter Final

 

Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-6

Newcastle West 1-2

 

This was a very tight game played down in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale on last Friday night, in very fine conditions but scores were hard come by on both sides with the score at the break read 0-2 to 0-1 to Newcastle West the current champions but then in the second half we outscored them by 0-5 to 1-0 with goal coming from Iain Corbett from Penalty after James Kelly was fouled in the square. This wins puts into the back into the Semi-Final once again for the 16th year in a row against on September 30th, in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale. Please Support our Senior Footballers.

 

Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the first point of the half coming from Derry McCarthy and then Newcastle West scored the next two points both coming from James Kelly to leave a point between the sides at the break. To leave the score at half-time Newcastle West 0-2 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-1.

 

Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next four points of the second half with two of these coming from Gerard O'Gorman and the other points came from Patrick Donnelly and Derry McCarthy to put back into lead by three points. Newcastle West came back with a goal from penalty in the 45th minute of the game coming from Lain Corbett after James Kelly was fouled by Dan Gayer of Dromcollogher/ Broadford to bring sides back on level terms for the third time during the game. Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the winning point coming from John O'Gorman in the last few minutes of the game to put back into the Semi-Final for the 17th year in a row against Na Pairsaigh, on Friday September 30th, in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale, at 7.30pm. To leave the score at full-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-6 to Newcastle West 1-02.

Our U16 Footballers had a big win over Pallasgreen by 5-7 to 1-5 with the goals for Dromcollogher/ Broadford coming from Ronan Cahill, James Molyneaux, Cillian Shine, Jack Piece and Brian Stack and this result into the final against the winners of Oola and Adare, with this Semi-Final taking place on this coming Sunday September 25th, in Oola, at 11.30am.
