CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

Results and Fixtures

Our U14 championship campaign continued with an away match in Newcastle West on Tuesday. It was another great display from the girls and our second win which puts us in with a chance of making the cup final. Early goals put Monaleen into a 2-1 to nil lead and although the game was level at half time NCW could never get the lead and a strong finish was enough for a 4-3 to 3-1 win.

Mia O Halloran; Roisin D'Arcy; Aoife Doyle (3-0); Aoife Nelligan; Ella Hession (0-2); Sarah Sheehan; Charley Drury; Juliette Pinson; Abby McCarthy; Clodagh Power; Grace Clohessy (0-1); Eimear Morgan; Emily O Brien (1-0); Rachel Shinnors; Lucy D'Arcy; Amy Kavanagh; Grace Malone; Kerri Carey; Niamh Moloney.

On Friday evening the U16s played their championship semi-final v Mungret. This was all about goals, the ones Monaleen scored and ones that Munget did not due to the great goalkeeping of Aisling Kennedy. Monaleen dominated the first half and looked to be heading for a comfortable win at half time. Eimear Morgan and Emma Donohoe had a great first period in the half forward line setting up some great chances. The second half performance from Mungret was much better and it was the Monaleen midfield and defence who showed their skill and commitment with Ellen Regan-Magner, Tara Hogan and Caitlin Bonfil to the fore. A great win for a panel who have shown great team spirit through this competition and now have a final v Kilmallock to look forward to on the 1st of October.

Panel: Aisling Kennedy; Clodagh Power; Mia O Halloran; Abby McCarthy; Aine Doyle (5-4); Aoife Doyle; Saoirse Lane; Caitlin Bonfil; Emma Donohoe (0-3); Ellen Regan-Magner; Keelin Corcoran; Ella Hession; Eimear Morgan; Tara Hogan; Ruth Heavey (0-1).

Our Junior players playing with Shannonside had a 3rd championship win in Sunday in Knockaderry v Templeglantine. Caoimhe Lyons got some fantastic scores which ensured that the girls led from start to finish and ran out comfortable winners. This win put the team into a semi-final as group winners. Our opponents will be known after the quarter finals next weekend with the semi fixed for October 2nd.

Monaleen players: Aisling Doyle; Caoimhe Lyons; Aine Doyle; Susan Fullen; Grainne Fullen; Niamh Doyle; Eileen Russell; Shalini Kutur & Aisling Kennedy.
