SENIOR HURLING: The Senior hurlers produced a clinical display to comfortably defeat Ahane in the County Championship. Patrickswell started positively and scored points through Lar Considine and Aaron Gillane before Ahane struck their opening point. With a breeze at their backs, the 'Well took full control and plundered twelve consecutive points to subdue their rivals. The contest was effectively decided within twenty minutes. Ahane managed to stem the tide with a point, but Aaron Gillane (0-2) and Lar Considine ensured that the half-time score was 0-17 to 0-2.
The second half was a more balanced affair, despite Patrickswell facing the stiff wind. There was an exchange of six points apiece to make the score 0-23 to 0-8 with ten minutes remaining. The game concluded in near darkness on a gloomy evening. Niall Moran delivered a ferocious penalty to give Ahane consolation, but the result was a convincing 0-25 to 1-9 triumph for Patrickswell.
