Glin GAA Club Notes

July 26, 2016

Upcoming Events

Glin GAA is proud to announce two very special events taking place in the village during August. On Saturday, August 13th, a special memorial match in honour of the late Billy Martin will take place at the field, with Glin up against a North Kerry selection. It will be a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to the club as a player, official and manager throughout his life. All are welcome.

On Saturday, August 20th, Glin GAA will be holding a Family Fun day. This club fundraiser begins with a 12K Road Race at 1.30pm, registration from 12.30pm. A walk for families will take place at this time also, around the Knight's Walk beginning in the Church car park. Afterwards, there will be a BBQ in the Square as well as children's activities, including a penalty shootout, slow bicycle race, face painting and much more. Much organising and planning has gone into these two events, which promise to be very entertaining and we extend an open invitation to all to join us on the day. Further details will be given over the next few weeks.

Intermediate Championship

Glin take on Galbally in the third round of the Intermediate championship on Friday, July 29th at 7.15 in Feenagh. All support is greatly appreciated.

Junior B

Our Junior B's had a great victory over St. Kieran's in a playoff at the weekend coming through after extra time to win 2-8 to 0-13. All Glin players credited themselves with distinction on Sunday evening, with special mention going to Ger Lyons, Darren Sheahan, Ronan Culhane, Eoin Flanagan and James McSweeney for putting in great performances on the night.

Shannon Gaels

Well done to the Shannon Gaels minor team who recorded a comprehensive win, 6-9 to 0-9, over Drom/Broadford in Round 3 of the minor championship at the weekend.

Congratulations

Congratulations to clubman Patrick Fitzgerald who got married to Ciara Gallagher recently in Galway. Paddy has been a stalwart on the team for many years and captained us to the 2014 County title.  We wish them health and happiness for the future.
