JUVENILE CLUB NEWS

U14 hurling The championship has continued over the month of July where we have played two matches

On 5th of July we played Southside Gaels (St Pat s , Claughuan and Old Christians) in Monaleen.  The game was a very high scoring one with the lead changing hands a number of times. Monaleen were a point down at half time but came out after half time and took a 2 point lead mid-way through the second half. Two late goals by Southside Gaels switched the game back in their favour and although we got a goal back, we had too much to do at that stage and Southside Gaels ran out four point winners on a score line of 4-13 to 3-12.

On the 20th of July we travelled to Knocklong to play Garryspillane. We were very short on numbers with lots away on holidays. It was a game of two halves. Garryspillane were very accurate with their frees in the first half and had a 4 point lead at half time. Things didn't look good when Garryspillane scored a goal immediately after half time. It was to be one of their last scores however as the Monaleen come back started from there. We scored 3 goals and 2 points without reply and held on to take a 2-point win. This was a huge win for us.

We have two more matches to play. Our next match is Ahane in Monaleen on 3rd of August. If we win we will be a county semi final
