SENIOR FOOTBALLERS

Our senior footballers were in All County League action during the week when they entertained Ballysteen.

This was our final league game and a welcome one prior to the recommencement of the Championship which starts back this coming weekend.

Despite missing a number of regulars we nevertheless fielded a very good side and were extremely competitive throughout the game.

We worked some excellent scores through  the lines with first half points from Mark Buckley, Eoghan Kehilly, Kieran Daly Gordon Brown and David Dempsey.

Newcomer Anthony Kavanagh was also showing well and chipped in with our only goal of the game mid way through the half to give us a good lead at the short whistle 1-5 to 0-2

As was expected Ballysteen came right back into the game courtesy of a goal of their own and when they added further points the game was in the melting pot all square heading into the final quarter.

The intriduction of fresh legs proved telling and added a fresh inputis to  our play.

Some well taken scores from Peter Casey (2)and county star Eoin Hogan (4) from play and placed balls saw us hang on to our lead and see it out to the finish.

Our keeper showing excellent tactical kicking and was well assured between the sticks.

Dean McLoughlin and the ever reliable Evan O Brien solid out throughout the game with Podge Kennedy, Mark Buckley and Gordon Brown always showing to support the man in possession.

Upfront Eoin Hogan drove at Ballysteen and Peter Casey, Evan Condon and Kieran Daly working tirelessly all through.

Overall a good preparat ion for the upcoming Championship v Ballylanders.
