CAMOGIE CLUB NEWS

U11 Camogie. Our U11 team played a blitz recently in Crecora against Na Piarsaigh, Mungret & Treaty Gaels. In our 1st match we defeated Na Piarsaigh by 2-03 to 0-00 Scorers: Ciara Buckley 1-00, Sarah Burke 1-01, Amie O`Brien 0-01, Ellie Madden 0-01.

Our 2nd match was against Mungret & despite a strong fightback from Mungret in the 2nd half we came through this match with a victory on a scoreline of 4-01 to 1-02. Scorers: Abi Houlihan 2-00, Laura Southern 1-00, Ellie Madden 1-0, Sarah Burke 0-01.

Our final match of the morning was against Treaty Gaels & by now the girls were well warmed up & playing really well together & we ran out comfortable winners on a score of 5-05 to 0-03. Scorers: Abi Houlihan 2-02, Laura Southern 1-00, Ciara Buckley 1-00, Amie O`Brien 1-00, Sarah Burke 0-01, Ellie Madden 0-02.

This was a very good workout for the team who put in great performances all over the field, our defence was rock solid in every match, the midfielders worked tirelessly supporting the backs & driving quality balls in to the forward line. Our forwards looked dangerous every time the ball was in the opponents half of the field. Were it not for some top class saves by the opposing goalkeepers in all 3 matches we could have notched up a few more scores.

This was a real team performance & every girl on the field played their part in all the victories. The support play & hand passing has really improved & was a feature of the games today with several top class moves ending up in scores for the Monaleen girls.

Team on the day: Kim Ivory, Ella O`Halloran, Saoirse Fallon, Ciara Buckley, Grace Field, Abi Houlihan, Amie O`Brien, Aoife O`Brien, Isabelle O`Donoghue, Ellie Madden, Laura Southern, Sarah Burke.

Keep an eye out on WhatsApp for training info next week girls, lots of work done but still loads of room for improvement & plenty to work on before the next blitz.
