Senior County Football League
Fr. Caseys 4-12 Ballysteen 0-01
Fr. Casey's recorded a comprehensive victory over Ballysteen in the Senior County Football League on Tuesday 21st June in Ballysteen. The Ballysteen team was considerably understrength but the performance from the Abbeyfeale men was superb, particularly in defence. A notable performer on the night was Cathal Broderick who scored two goals after his introduction and there were chants of "Your defence is terrified, Broderick's on fire" from the crowd as the game neared its conclusion.
Senior County Football League
Fr. Casey's 3-07 Monaleen 0-14
Just twenty-four hours after the win over Ballysteen, Fr. Casey's senior footballers played Monaleen in the Senior County Football League. It was a game that really tested the strength of the Fr. Casey's senior panel as it was played in Limerick city and with it being the second game in the week, many players were unable to travel. Luckily, Abbeyfeale football's spiritual leader, Denis Fitzgerald, made his return to senior team action and along with captain John Riordan, they guided the team to victory. Making their first senior league appearances were Killian Sweeney, Paudie Smith and Pa O'Connor and all three players made telling contributions. Smith got the opening goal of the game and with John Riordan and Cathal Broderick also registering three-pointers, it put a lot of pressure on Monaleen each time to respond. Players and management will be delighted with the result as Monaleen fielded a strong team and the outing will have given all involved much to contemplate as we head towards championship in just a few weeks.
Junior A West Football Championship
Fr. Casey's 2-06 Gerald Griffins 0-12
This Junior A West Football Championship match was a tough battle played between two fast and skillful teams. The first half saw Fr. Casey's register just three points with Paudie Smith, Tommy Smith and Pa O'Connor all scoring points from play. Gerald Griffins however played with real composure in the first half and raised the white flag seven times to leave four points between the sides at the half time interval. Although Gerald Griffins scored the opening point of the second half, it was Tommy Smith's goal soon after that set the game alight and brought Fr. Casey's to within two points of their opponents. A Michael Keane free and two more points from Tommy Smith saw the Abbeyfeale men take the lead for the first time in the game. Griffins responded with two points of their own to regain the lead in what was becoming a tense encounter. However, Tommy Smith raced through the Gerald Griffins once again to smash the ball into the back of the net and give his side a two-point advantage. Unfortunately, two Gerald Griffins frees brought the game to a deadlock and neither side could find a winner before the referee sounded the final whistle. Selector JD Foley was disappointed not to get the win but after the game commended the players on their efforts and excellent team ethic.
Night at the Dogs
On Saturday August 13th, Fr. Casey's GAA Club will be gone to the dogs. This summer our club begins a major field improvement project and the main fundraising event to finance this redevelopment will be our Night at the Dogs at Limerick Greyhound Stadium.
The club are currently selling Nominator and Buster tickets for this event, priced at €20 and €10 respectively. The Nominator tickets, with a 1 in 6 chance of being a winner, will give you free entry to the race night and if your nominated dog comes first then you will win a fabulous hamper. These tickets will be primarily sold to club members, players and supporters within Abbeyfeale. The Buster tickets, with a 1 in 720 chance of being a winner, will give you free entry to the race night and if the race finishes in your given sequence you win a €500 cash prize. These tickets will be primarily sold in neighbouring towns and villages with ticket sellers hitting the roads every Monday and Thursday evening for the coming month. We would really appreciate assistance from all club members with ticket sales, the more than merrier as this will be quiet a big undertaking. We are also very grateful to everyone that purchases a ticket for this event.

Féile Event a Major Success
Fr Casey's Bord na nOg U14 Boys and Fr Casey's Ladies Football U14 Girls both took part in this year's GAA National Féile Peil na nÓg Competition along with acting as a Host Club to both U14 South London Boys and U14 Con Magees Girls between 24th and 26th June. With perfect weather adding to the already exciting atmosphere surrounding what is in effect the largest Youth Sporting Event in Europe this year, it turned out to be an amazing, fun-filled weekend for our Community and Club that was enjoyed by several hundred kids and adults alike from early morning to late evening for the 3 day event.
However, no Event runs smoothly without the help and effort of all those throughout the Community to make it work and Fr Casey's GAA would like to extend their sincere appreciation to all the following individuals:
Firstly, to the few Host Households that were on Emergency Standby throughout the whole weekend, it would not have been possible to run this event without knowing that you were always ready to take on some of the kids and/or the adults if the unforeseen had ever happened. Thank You very much indeed for your patience and willingness to be there.
To all the Host Families who had either visiting Boys or visiting Girls and for all the baking, washing, driving etc that had to be done as part of that. We know you've all enjoyed it but a Hugh Thank You to all of you for everything you'd done to keep them happy and smiling.
To all the Staff and Committee Members who did so much behind the scenes to make this Event run smoothly, you really have promoted yourselves and Fr Casey's in a wonderful light and Proud you should be of it - Well done.
To all the Kids from all sides, you have all done your Families and Clubs so Proud. You are a real credit to all those that love you.
Such a success was this weekend and such was the feeling of appreciation from our visiting Teams and Clubs that several of our Mentors, Players and Committee Members have already been invited to spend some weekends with them.
