Senior County Football Championship

Fr. Casey's 0-14 Rathkeale 0-14

Fr. Casey's senior footballers played Rathkeale on Friday evening in Newcastle West in what was a tense and close encounter. Fr. Casey's got off to a great start and with Kevin O'Connor dominating possession from kickouts, it gave Fr. Casey's a great base to play from. Rathkeale were slow to realise the Fr. Casey's tactics but when they did they were able to revive their hopes and managed to kick some great scores just before half time to leave just a solitary point between the sides. After the restart, Rathkeale continued to pressurize the Fr.Casey's players and scored three points in a row to take a two point lead. With fifteen minutes remaining, Fr. Casey's were dealt a further blow as they were reduced to fourteen men for an innocuous challenge. However, against all odds, Fr. Casey's began to show life with young players Jamie O'Connor, Cormac Roche and Adrian Enright kicking some great scores to retake the lead and go two points ahead with just five minutes remaining. Rathkeale showed some great character of their own though and scored a quick brace of points in the final minutes to level the match and share the points. The result was probably the fairest conclusion to what was a tough battle. Fr. Casey's not have a long break before the next championship outing which is expected to be fixed for late July or early August.

 

Spin & Win Draw

The following are the results from last Monday nights Spin and Win Draw which was held in The Corner House Bar. Congratulations to all our winners and many thanks to everyone who purchased a ticket.

The next Spin and Win Draw will be held on Sunday May 8th in The Cryle View Bar at 9.30pm. With the jackpot not won last weekend, the prize fund increases to €4,600 for the coming draw. The three players spinning the wheel next weekend are as follows:
