U-15 HURLING

Caherline GAA: Our U15 hurlers hosted Glenroe tonight in a must win game to stay in the competition. This was a very competitive game right from the start with neither side giving an inch. Playing into a strong breeze we edged ourselves into a one point lead going in at half time. The lads put their shoulder to the wheel in the second half and put in a great team performance to run out winners on a score line of 1:08 to 1:03.

U-16 Hurling

Our under 16 hurlers were out twice in the last week, first up last Wednesday they played local rivals Pallasgreen in a challenge match. This proved to be a valuable work out for both teams. Pallasgreen came out of the blocks very fast and held a commanding lead at half time 1-8 to 0-3. A much improved second half performance from Caherline was not enough to overhaul the half time lead, final score Pallasgreen 1-13 Caherline 0-9. Team : David Crosse, Luke O'Dea, Eamon Balfry, Rory Walsh, Liam Shanahan, Seán Whelan, Nicholas Tierney, Paraic Wixted, Jake Kennedy, Patryk Kolodziejczak, Jack Enright, Josh Moloney, Conor Enright, John Madden, Niall O'Connor Subs: Lloyd O'Dea, Diarmuid Murnane, Jack Carroll.

Then on Monday night they played their first match in division 3 of the county championship away to Templeglantine. In the first half Templeglantine played with the advantage of the wind and the hill and built an early lead of 0-3 to 0-1. Caherline really dug in and picked off some good scores on the break, the hard work paid off as Templeglantine only managed one more point in the half and Caherline led by 0-5 to 0-4 at half time. Templeglantine were never going to lie down and this proved to be the case and Caherline could not pull away. With the lead at four points, Jake Carroll got a goal for Caherline with the last puc of the match. This was a very hard fought win and a good start to the championship. Final score Caherline 1-10 Templeglantine 0-6. Team: David Crosse, Luke O'Dea, Eamon Balfry, Liam Shanahan, Darragh McNamara, Seán Whelan, Nicholas Tierney, Paraic Wixted (Captain) (0-5), Jake Kennedy (0-1), Patryk Kolodziejczak (0-1), Jack Enright (0-2 frees), Lloyd O'Dea, Rory Walsh, John Madden, Jake Carroll (Vice Captain) (1-1) Subs: Conor Enright, Niall O'Connor, Diarmuid Murnane.
