Munster Club Champions 2015......

Massive congratulations to our Senior hurlers on another mighty performance on Sunday.

We were sluggish in the opening half but turned in a sublime second half display to allow  captain Cathal King lift the Munster cup to follow in the footsteps of Kieran Bermingham and James O'Brien. We received the bad news before the throw in that ace forward Kevin Downes would be unable to play and added to the already absent David Breen concerns mounted as to our strentgh up front.

We actually had the better start with points from Shane Dowling and Kevin Ryan but it was Ballygunner who raced into a 5 points to 2 lead.

A long range free from Ronan Lynch reduced arrears before a long ball from Michael Foley was finished cooly by David Dempsey. We did however conceed 3 further frees to trail at the break 1-7 to 1-4.

The second half was much better from the lads and points from Shane Dowling(2), Peter Casey, Michael Foley and Will O Donoghue quickly turned a 3 point deficit into a 2 point lead.

A Ballygunner free stiopped the rot but we quickly added further points by Shane Dowling, David Dempsey, Kevin Ryan and Peter Casey to lead by 5 .

Further pointed frees from our opponents dissected two great Dempsey points David and Alan before a deflected shot deceived Podge Kennedy to end up in the net to leave two between the teams with 5 minutes left.

The introduction of David Breen at full forward in the second half proved crucial as his presence was causing problems for Ballygunner.

Further points from Ronan Lynch, Peter Casey and David Breen before the hard working Shane Dowling superbly dispatched an unstoppable shot to the net to seal a mighty second half.

We had some excellent displays all over the field but special mention to Alan Dempsey and Will O Donoghue, Kieran Kennedy, Mike Casey and Shane Dowling who worked tirelessly throughout.

We are extremely proud of every single member of this extremely honest hard working and hugely determined bunch.

We now can enjoy Christmas and look forward to a crack off the Leinster Champions in February.
