UNDER 21 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
Ballybrown 1.07 Oola 1.10
Played in Caherelly on Sunday Morning. Oola playing into the slight breeze were first to settle into the game and were three points up after seven minutes. It looked like we were in for a tough  afternoon at this stage, it took Ballybrown fifteen minutes to register our first point from Tom Clancy. Ballybrown were now well settled into the match and after both teams had added a point to their scores, our point coming from a free from Tom Clancy, it was Ballybrown who dominated the last few minutes of the half and added two further points from Lee Doolan and another from Tom Clancy, to leave the half time score 0.05 to 0.04 in favour of Oola. Ballybrown now playing into the wind and once again it was Oola who were first to score with two points. Diarmuid O Connor scored a great point to cut the deficit to two points. It was at this stage we lost Tj O Connor who was having a fine game at centre field and Dean Corbett replaced him. Ballybrown reshuffled the team and were playing great football with the game in the melting pot. A point a piece from frees for both teams had  Oola ahead by two points 0.08 to 0.06. Ballybrown deservedly took the lead with a well taken goal from Robert O Grady. Our lead lasted just one minute however, Oola scored a goal from a penalty, and they once again led by two. To our lads credit they battled on and Lee Doolan cut the deficit to one with his second point from play. Oola added two further points to extend their lead out to three. Ballybrown looking for a goal did have the ball in the square a couple of times and had a penalty call turned down just before the final whistle, but we failed to get that elusive second goal and Oola held on for a narrow victory. We now face NaPiarsaigh in the last group game on Thursday 26th November at 8pm in St. Patricks, and if we can produce a simular performance or better we are well capable of reaching the knockout stages of this year's Championship.
