The Under 21 team ground out a hard fought victory over the Kevin Denihan trained Ballylanders in the South Final on Sunday last. The final scoreline of 2-7 to 2-6 highlights that there was no margin for error in the game with Jason Dineen and Ger Quinlan goals proving decisive. The team was Brogan Walsh, Ciaran Bourke, Niall Kearney, Nathan Byrnes, David Cussen, Cathal Shanahan, Henry Leahy, Colin Ryan, Mike Donovan, Ger Quinlan, Jack O'Mullane, Jason Dineen, Thomas Cussen, Gary McCarthy (Capt), Oisin Walsh. Subs: James Donovan, Alex Finnan, William Ryan, John Kearns Also: Billy Donoghue, Micheal Bourke, Tom Looby, Danny Kelly, Jamie Morrissey, Robert Casey, Paddy Donovan. Manager: Martin Kearney Selectors: Kieran Hickey, Eoin Bourke, Vinny O'Connell. Kit Man: John Magner. Mike Donovan was presented with the deferred South Board Under 21 Footballer of the Year award after the game.


The AGM took place on Friday night last. The following officers were elected for 2016. Life Presidents: Tim Ryan, Jim Clancy, Vice Presidents: Richie Bourke, Johnny Wallace, Canon Jack O'Neill, Canon Denis Talbot, Mike Henebry, Tom Kiely. Chairman: Martin Kearney, Vice Chairman: Tom Quinlan, Secretary: Henry Martin, Assistant Secretary: Ger Cussen, Treasurer: Brian Chaplin, Assistant Treasurer: Maurice Moriarty, PRO: TBC, Registrar: Declan Hickey, Irish Officer: TBC, Child Officer: Elaine Beston, County Board Delegate: Richie Bourke, Football Board Delegate: John Scully, South Board Delegate: Ger Cussen, Membership Officer: TBC.


The departing officers were thanked for their services during the past and previous years. The importance of finance was raised at the meeting and with a sum of over €7000 due to cover affiliations, insurance etc. in early 2016, the importance of fundraising was highlighted. The completion of team managements will be deferred to a future date. John Kiely the All-Ireland Under 21 winning manager spoke of his pride in the success and thanked the locals for supporting him throughout the year. He also referred to a number of memorable photographs that were taken with the locals during the year. After the meeting John Kiely and Niall Kearney travelled to Bulgaden where they were both honoured with South Board Awards
