Last season's All-Ireland club finalists Kilmallock have been knocked out of the Limerick SHC at the semi-final stage.

The reigning county and provincial champions were edged out by arch rivals Na Piarsaigh, 2-13 to 0-20, in what was a repeat of last year's county final at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday.

The city side raced into a 0-5 to 0-1 lead and had extended their advantage to 0-12 to 0-7 by half-time. A goal by teenager Robbie Hanley with his first touch early in the second half brought the champions back into it, but with William O'Donoghue and Alan Dempsey in fine scoring form, Na Piarsaigh hit back to open up a 0-19 to 1-9 lead.

Hanley poked home a second Kilmallock goal in injury-time and Graeme Mulcahy added a point, but Na Piarsaigh held on to secure their place in the final.

Adare will face Patrickswell in the other semi-final after Ger Hegarty's men overcame Ahane by 1-20 to 2-10 in their quarter-final replay.
