UNDER 13 HURLING LEAGUE Ballybrown 1.14 Patrickswell 4.02 Our under 13s qualified for the County final on Wednesday evening when they overcame Patrickswell in the last round of the qualifiers. Ballybrown were well on top in the first half and led at half time by ten points. Patrickswell started the second half the stronger and it took Ballybrown a couple of minutes to get back into the game. Ballybrown led 1.14 to 2.02 with time almost up. Patrickswell scored two goals to leave nerves jangling on the sideline. Time ran out for Patrickswell and the final whistle was greeted by all in Ballybrown. In what has been an excellent year for Ballybrown Juvenile club our under 13s have now qualified for the County final where we play Mungret time and venue to be announced.
UNDER 14 HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP The semi-final of this year's under 14 championship between Ballybrown and Patrickswell is fixed for Saturday 3rd October at 1pm in Mick Neville Park Rathkeale. Best of luck lads
UNDER 12 A CAMOGIE COUNTY FINAL Ballybrown 3.02 Crecora 1.01 Ballybrown girls had a massive win against neighbours Crecora today. Outstanding performances from all the girls especially Ellen Healy, Olivia Kerins, Kayleigh Lyons, Alex Connole, Roisin Gavin and Cliona Hall to mention a few. Well done..a great achievement and well deserved.
JUNIOR B FOOTBALL Our City final verses Crecora had to be postponed on Saturday due to a bereavement in Crecora and will probably be played next weekend. With our Junior B footballers already qualified for the County quarter final and with our Senior,Minor and under 16 hurlers also awaiting their finals adding to the 13s and 14s it is going to be a hectic few weeks for the club. and we would like to wish all our teams well.
SAILORS HAGGARD MONUMENT A new addition to the parish was added this week with the official opening of this monument to the many fishermen from the Parish who fished the Shannon over hundredS of years. A huge crowd turned up to witness fellow fisherman Monesnior Lane officiate at the opening ceremony. A huge amount of gratitude is reserved to all concerned for this beautiful tribute to our rich history.
UNDER 6, 8, and 10 Continues every Friday from 5.45 in the club. New members are always welcome. Just come along on the night. Blitzes for all the teams take place throughout the year.
STRICTLY COME DANCING With four weeks to go the dancers are well into rehearsals for the opening and closing routines and their individual dances. Bridget Harte and her team are choreographing all the dances and many nights of hard work are taking place. This fundraising event is being held by the Camogie and the GAA clubs of Ballybrown. It will take place on Saturday 24th October in the South Court Hotel at 8pm and will be compered by Liam Aherne of Limerick Live 95FM. We are still requesting local businesses to take ads in our programme which will be available on the night. All funds raised will go to the upkeep of our facilities and towards the day to day costs of running these two successful clubs. The thirteen dancing couples will be presented to the public on Saturday 10th October in the Club House Bar and all are welcome to come and support your favourite dancers. Tickets are on sale at €20 and a great night's entertainment is guaranteed, The South Court have very kindly offered a 10% discount to anyone wishing to stay the night.Contact the hotel for details.
