Patsy Nicholas Bar Gerald Griffin St Junior A Hurling Championship Semi Finals

Patrickswell and Na Piarsaigh contested the first semi final of this competition on Saturday last in Claughaun. Na Piarsaigh having topped the table were in most eyes favourites for an easy victory here but alas it was not so as Patrickswell matched the city side point for point in the early stages. The interval saw just two points between the sides and all to play for in the second half. Conor Boylan was the chief scorer for Na Piarsaigh and Bobby Harty was doing a similar role for Patrickswell. Na Piarsaigh started the second half in great style with a goal from Eoin Keogh and two points from Thomas Grimes and Kieran Daly. Patrickswell had three points to reduce the deficit but after this both sides were reduced to fourteen as the referee dismissed a player from each side following an off the ball incident. Paul O'Brien had a goal and a point for Patrickswell and when the "Well" were awarded a penalty a shock was on but the well placed shot from Michael Conway struck the post and went wide and so ended their sides interest in the competition. Na Piarsaigh can thank Conor Boylan with a personal tally of eleven points (9f) for his contribution Bobby Harty hit six points (6f) for his side. There was confusion for most at this match as Patrickswell did not line-out their team per the match program.

Scorers Na Piarsaigh C Boylan 0-11 (9f), K Daly 0-2, D Cronin 0-1, T Grimes 0-1, E Keogh 1-0

Scorers Patrickswell B Harty 0-6 (6f)D Woulfe 0-2, G Murphy 0-1, P O Brien 1-1

Ballybrown and St Patricks contested the second semi final on Saturday evening.

Ballybrown were seen as underdogs here as in their previous outing against St Patricks they were beaten by eighteen points. Pats started brightly with a long range free from Gearoid Hegarty. Both sides traded points to be level at five points each with just a few minutes to the break and St Patricks scored two late points to lead by two at the interval. The second half saw St Patricks extend their lead with three pointed frees from Jason Mullins. David Byrnes replied for ballybrown with two points before Mark Kiely was on hand to score a goal for St Patricks after a point blank save by the Ballybrown Custodian. Ballybrown super sub Killian Cliffe scored a fine goal following a long clearance and with two more points from David Byrnes there was just two points between the sides. Further points from Jason Mullins and Killian Gavin saw the final score St Patricks 1-12 Ballybrown 1-10.

Scorers St Patricks J Mullins 0-6 (6f), G Hegarty 0-2 (2f), M Kiely 1-2, N Phelan 0-1, W Cronin 0-1

Scorers Ballybrown D Byrnes 0-8 (5f 1x65), W Stanners 0-1, K Gavin 0-1, K Cliffe 1-0
