All games were evenly matched and all the Monaleen girls fought hard for every ball. There was very good skills on view and we scored some fine goals and points. Great display girls, keep up the practice, we have a busy few weeks with friendly matches, a trip to Croke Park and the All County Blitz to look forward to. Special mention must go to the 2 girls who made their debut this morning Rachel Donoghue & Lilly Holloway, both played brilliantly with Rachel scoring a super goal. Well done guys.

U14 Camogie The U14 championship quarter final was played in Patrickswell on Tuesday and resulted in a big win for Monaleen against the home team. A great start for our girls who were just too strong on the night. There will be tougher matches to come with a semi final v Ahane scheduled for Tuesday evening.
Rachel Murphy; Aoife Nelligan (3-1); Aoife Doyle (2-0); Emma Donohoe (3-1); Emma Rea; Maeve Rea; Ella Hession (2-1); Laura Hession (1-1); Roisin Darcy (2-0); Saoirse Lane (0-1); Aoife Darcy; Lucy Darcy; Abby McCarty; Caitlin Bonfil; Sarah Sheehan.
U16 Camogie In a very entertaining match the U16s played a championship QF v Kilmallock on Friday. Aisling Kennedy in goals and Tara Hogan, full back, had great games as Monaleen ran out 6-6 to 4-7 winners. The girls are focused now on a semi final v Causeway from Kerry who defeated Bruff.
Aisling Kennedy; Fiona Fitzpatrick; Tara Hogan; Susan Fullen; Shalini Kujur; Katie Golden; Caitlin Bonfil; Ellen Regan Magner; Ruth Heavey; Claire Kelly (1-3); Robyn McDonnell; Emma Donohoe (0-2); Laura Hession; Saoirse Lane (1-0); Aine Doyle (3-1)
Minor Camogie Last Sunday our minors played Ahane in the first round of the championship. In what was a very tight and competitive affair we were 2 points up at half time before eventually losing by 1 point. Tough to take, as the players and mentors believed the game to be a draw at the final whistle before the referee confirmed his scoring as an Ahane victory. There were some great performances on the day with Caoimhe Lyons, and Aisling Kennedy in the goals, both having great games.
Junior Camogie Our Junior players, playing as part of the amalgamated Shannonside team, got off to a winning start in the Junior Championship. Although League winners in the Spring this is a tougher competition and wins over a fancied Knockaderry team by 4 points and an away win in Newcastle West by 2 points was a fantastic start. On Sunday, with a lot of the established players missing ,the girls were beaten by joint leaders Kileedy. But with 2 more group matches to be played a semi-final spot is within our grasp.
Monaleen's 2 county senior players Caoimhe Lyons and Megan O Mara played their final championship games against Wexford and Galway and while Limerick did not qualify for the semi final stages it was a fantastic first year as part of the county setup for both girls. Unfortunately Megan suffered a serious knee injury in the final training session before the Galway match and will be out for the remainder of the year. A huge loss to our club teams and everyone wishes Megan well and hopes to see her back on the pitch before too long.
