John Brudair will stay on as Limerick's senior football manager until the end of 2017.

Brudair's two-year term came to an end in June following Limerick's exit from the All-Ireland SFC qualifiers at the hands of Tyrone, but county board chairman John Cregan has confirmed that he will remain in his current role for the next two years, with review at the end of next season.

"John wanted to stay on and we didn't want him to go," Cregan told the Irish Examiner.

"We were satisfied to hand him a second two-year contract, with a review after 12 months. The clubs also supported this move.

"John's backroom team will go before the county board in early September for ratification and once that has been rubber-stamped we will finalise the U21 management as we are keen to keep the two camps together."
