Charity Cycle
Saturday last, 15th August, our annual charity cycle took place. Organised by Glin Knights and Glin GAA, our chosen charity for this year was the Nano Nagle School from Listowel. Nano Nagle provide a great service and care for so many in the Glin and wider community, which is greatly appreciated. The cycle got underway shortly after 10a.m. to a misty and cloudy start. Almost 200 cyclists took off after a quick countdown by our own John Sheahan CC. A new route was chosen this year which proved to be a masterstroke by the Glin Knights as it got the thumbs up from all the cyclists. We had the 70 k and 120 k, which saw us take the scenic route out of Glin to Tarbert, onto Moyvane, Knockanure, Athea, where the group split. The majority departed for Abbeyfeale, followed by Glantine, Old Mill, Ardagh, Foynes, and back to Glin. The 70 k group left Athea after a water stop, proceeded to Carrig, onto Ardagh, where all the cyclists stopped for refreshments at the hall. We may have had a misty start to the day but the sun was out by the time we reached Tarbert and fortunately stayed with us for the day. This year's event was probably our most successful and enjoyable, and passed off without incident or injury. This charity cycle, which has become an annual event, could not take place without the help of all our volunteers, who acted as stewards and bucket collectors, and all the local businesses who support us generously every year. A special word of thanks to Donie Shine, Shane Adams, Brian Cunningham, Billy McSweeney, and Declan Reidy, who spearhead this event every year. Also, a big thank you to the girls who once again served up the food in the hall in Ardagh-namely Glencora Harbour, Liz Sweeney, Leanne Shine, Breda Sheehy, Marian Mulvihill, and Gemma Costello. The staff of Nano Nagle were also a great help on the day. Lastly, we thank the motorcycle marshals led by Donie O'Connor and Eamonn Sheehy. The ambulance crew directed by Patricia Griffin and lead car with Donie Reagan got us safely back to base in Glin.

Junior B C'ship semi-final- Glin vs Knockaderry, Sunday Aug 23rd at 6.45 in Askeaton.
Our Junior B side take on Knockaderry in the West semi-final in Askeaton next Sunday evening. After topping our group thanks to victories over St. Kieran's and Ballysteen, we qualified directly for the semi-final. Our opponents, Knockaderry beat Ballysteen in the quarter final last weekend. We would encourage all the supporters to attend as it promises to be a great contest.
